The Comeback Kid

It has been so very long since I've posted on here. Quite frankly, life got really busy.
As you may have read in previous posts from nearly two years ago, Zak and I were preparing to  celebrate our wedding. Well, we are married, honeymooned and now homeowners all as of a year ago.
Now life consists of work, university, and house decorating.
Actually, I am really obsessed with interior design.
We used to live in a condo downtown in the city and we now live in the suburbs. We are absolutely loving having more space and yard to stretch out in. We have yet to make any changes to the house because we really want to take our sweet time with it.
However, our landscaping project is about to begin and I cannot wait to share the process and progress, so stay tuned!

I am looking forward to changing things up and bringing this blog up to modernity to align with my life in the here and now.

Lots of love.

Let Them Eat Cake

I haven't posted a "life lately" post in a long time. But seriously, our life lately has only consisted of wedding planning. This past week was the absolute best part of planning a wedding: THE CAKE TASTING!

It literally is the icing on top of all things wedding planning.

We were given a list of thirteen different flavour combos and were told to narrow our tasting selections down to only five.
THIS WAS SO UNBELIEVABLY HARD.
The flavours that we picked were:
vanilla cake with a vanilla filling and iced with a vanilla buttercream - this was Zak's fave. What can I say he's a pretty vanilla guy. P.S. - I love being able to see the vanilla bean. Totally yum.
Next up was a vanilla cake with a blackberry filling and topped off with a white chocolate ganache icing. SO DANG GOOD.
I didn't think anything could top off the previous two but then my mouth discovered the flavour combination of lemon cake filled with a blueberry filling and finished with a vanilla icing. In my head, I kept thinking, "WINNER, WINNER, WE HAVE A WINNER!"
But then....me being my father's daughter and a chocolate addict...I discovered the taste of a vanilla cake filled and topped with a chocolate espresso icing and then the same filling but smothered between two moist dark chocolate cakes..
I MEAN HOW DOES A GIRL & I GUESS HER FIANCÉ DECIDE?!
ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS CAKE BAKER WAS PERSONALLY CONTRACTED BY MICHELLE OBAMA TO MAKE SUGAR FLOWERS FOR THE WHITE HOUSE 2013 CHRISTMAS PARTY?
You see that little pink sugar flower down there on the left hand side of the tray. Yeah, those are works of art. KEEPSAKES, EVEN.

I am even more excited now because as sketches and designs for all of the wedding are flowing in, the sketch of the proposed cake came in earlier today. I couldn't resist not giving everyone a sneak peek.

So here it is!

Seeing this makes me soo excited for our big day.

Valentine's Day 2016

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope it was filled with lots of love, goodies, and happiness. I know mine was. Zak, Jax, and I spent the weekend just being together. We caught up on sleep, our favourite television shows, and tried out some new recipes.
I woke up on Valentine's Day to a clean house and was told to get ready because Zak wanted to treat me to a shopping spree. Zak has been working so very hard and late lately that he didn't have any time to go out and buy anything. That is okay though, because the time spent with him this weekend warms my heart more than anything else. I am so lucky to call him my eternal Valentine.

But like always, he SPOILED me! I am such a lucky girl.
It was a very Valentino Valentine's, that's for sure.

We went out for a heart shaped pizza. It was so cute. Spicy perogy pizza is Zak's fave so that's what we opted for.

Instead of grabbing dessert at the restaurant, I told Zak that we would come home and make dessert:

CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES
A Valentine's staple if you ask me..

Dark chocolate & dark chocolate and coconut. Seriously soo good.

We had a fabulous Valentine's Day. Jax even stopped to smell the gorgeous, white roses that Zak got me.

Now this little family of mine is posted up on the couch. Jax is snuggling Zak. Zak is playing his video game (one of the gifts I gave him). I am sitting here counting my blessings and being thankful that I have two very loving Valentine's.

Lots of love.
xo.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Hi friends! I decided that I would throw together a quick gift guide of sorts for this weekend which is Valentine's Day! Maybe you can get some inspiration if you haven't already bought, made, or thought of what you're going to get that special somebody in your life. Also, hint hint, for my Valentine, Zak, if you're reading this. ;)

FOR HER

---

FOR HIM

I particularly like "Tinder Nightmares" - read it together and be thankful that you don't have to engage in any of the rat race.

Happy Valentine's Day, Love Birds!

Apples Oranges Pears, OH MY!

Hi guys! I'm back with a new juice recipe that I think everyone will love (especially kids). As you may or may not know I am in the midst of doing a juice cleanse so I've been trying to switch up my juice recipes and have been getting pretty experimental with it. Aside from a few hunger pains, or headaches on my busy days, it has been going really well. I woke up feeling pretty good this morning!
This next juice recipe that I'm going to share is delicious!

Resolute

Wow! It is already almost half-way through the first month of 2015. Time is going by so very quickly. Like always, the beginning of the year is filled to the brim full of resolutions of healthy habits and goals. I know, I know. This grouping includes me too. But come February my goals are out the window, or maybe pushed to the back burner. In 2014 I picked up a Breville Juice Fountain and have done a week-long juice cleanse here or there, but I feel like I could do much better.
{ carrot, orange, & ginger juice - yum! }

Christmas 2014

Hi everyone! I know that it has been a while since I have touched base but this season was just a busy one. We kicked off our holidays by going to see The Nutcracker ballet. I had never been before and I loved it. All of the dancers made everything look so effortless.
